Kern County Valley Solar Projects Air Quality Impact Analyses
Client: EnXco/EDF Energies Nouvelles Company
Location: Kern County, California

Kern County Valley Solar Project

EnXco is proposing the installation of a number of photovoltaic solar projects throughout Kern County. The projects range from 6 megawatts (MW) to 100 MW. Upon completion, the power produced by the facilities will be conveyed to PG&E’s distribution and transmission system through existing or new power lines adjacent to the project site. LSA was contracted by the applicant to provide technical studies for biological and cultural resources and air quality. The air quality impact analyses were prepared using methods and assumptions recommended by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Kern County. The analyses described existing air quality, potential project impacts on local carbon monoxide levels, emissions generated from project-related sources, and regional air pollution. LSA also calculated the operational reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional power generation as a result of displacing fossil fuels.
